Some of the reasons that have led to this substantial increase in numbers are as follows:

  • The convenience of distance-learning programs: The increasing highly competitive streak of the employment sector has led to a compelling need for the professionals to enhance their knowledge and acquire new skills. This has been made possible with the help of distance education, which enables the people to acquire a degree even while working. A Distance-Education University is a blessing for the professionals belonging to Tier II and Tier III cities, because these cities don’t have much option for quality higher education. So, they can keep working at those remote places but still have a chance to hone their skills.

  • The role of government initiates: The government of India has been constantly working to ensure that effective initiatives are launched for fostering fundamental changes to the modern-day education system for distance learning such as for Distance MBA in India. The government endeavours of initiating numerous distance-learning programs along with private and government universities has resulted in increasing and regulating the standard of distance education in India.

  • The role of corporate initiatives: The companies are constantly encouraging their employees to pursue distance education. This way, without hampering their current work and productivity, the employees can acquire more specialised skills to become more competitive. Some major corporate have even partnered with some institutions providing distance education to make their employees enrol for the same.

Therefore, the rise of the Distance MBA in the current education system is a result of the government and corporate initiatives. The distance-learning institutions make use of the best communication and information technologies to help the individuals acquire new skill set and make them more proficient in their work field, which is also a major factor leading to the rise of distance education in India.
